2nd Annual Classic - Las Cruces, NM

We were all excited about this weekend, entering into a tournament with some great teams.  A total of 9 teams were signed up for this tournament and it was located at Maag Park and Field of Dreams Park in Las Cruces, NM.  We started on Saturday with two pool games against the El Paso Crush and Las Cruces Pride.  We beat those teams, 5-2 and 5-0 respectively.  We then went into bracket play, seeded 3rd, and played the Las Cruces Victory, which we won 7-2 and the Insanity team from Albuquerque, who we defeated 9-3.  We headed into Sunday with a change of venue moving over to the Field of Dreams for Championship Sunday.  We played an excellent first game against the El Paso Dynamite and pulled out the victory 5-2.  Great defense and base running allowed us to pull this one out.  We were then on to the championship and awaited our opponent.  We then went into the Championship game facing the Dynamite team again.  Being in the winners bracket, we knew that we had two chances to pull this out.  The first game, our girls battled with great defense, but Dynamite pulled out the victory 1-0.  Given a small break for field maintenance, we re-grouped and prepared for the deciding game.  Our girls came out strong and defeated the Dynamite 7-2 and won 1st place in the tournament.  The days were long and hot, but our girls battled through all issues and showed that the Cats are best.  MEOW!
