Tribute to Servicemembers-El Paso, TX
Going into the weekend, there was question whether or not this tournament was actually going to make. A little bit of difficulty getting teams resulted in merging the 12U and 10U tournaments into a single 12U pool of teams. On Saturday, we headed into pool play being the only team that would play 4 pool games so that all other teams could get 3. We started off strong against the EP Crush, but then the bats slowed down significantly for the next two games against Dynamite and Texas Twisters. We then picked it back up a little with the game against the Albuquerque's Diamond Ice. We finished pool play at 2-2 and was seeded third. The girls had to stick around for the 8:30p.m. game and face the Texas Twisters. We played a great defensive game against the Twisters, allowing only one run, but we were unable to string together hits to get our own run, resulting in us being defeated 1-0. This placed us in the loser's bracket after our first game for the first time this season. The girls came on Sunday knowing that they had an uphill battle to fight. In order to take first, they would have to win 5 games, with 4 of them being in a row with no break. The girls came out and played the Diamond Ice and pulled out the victory 11-0. With a one game break, we then got ready to face the Crush and pulled out the victory behind stellar defense and pitching 4-0. With that, we went straight into another game against the Dynamite, winning with outstanding offense 10-1. This put us into the Championship game against the Texas Twisters. The first game was a great battle between us and our girls were able to pull out a great win, 12-9 in 7 innings. We then moved on to our last game. The girls fought hard and showed that they are truly resilient in playing five games in the exceptional heat but were unable to pull out the victory and were defeated 8-7 in 5 innings. The girls were awesome in showing how powerful they really are and we are looking forward to the Queen of the Mountain tournament to face some great teams. Great job LadyCats, you did exceptional and we are all proud of your accomplishment.
