LadyCats were ready to roll into Ruidoso and play well in a 16 team tournament, the largest tournament to date. This would be the tournament to help us to prepare for the Goliath which is upcoming in two weeks. We arrived into Ruidoso to play our pool games on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Our two pool games were against the Crush and Victory. The Cats took first in the pool by winning these games 12-0 and 9-0 respectively. We were then slated to play at 10:30 the next morning, but because of the blazing fire in the Ruidoso area, the tournament directors were forced to make some decisions because Eagle Park was closed. The tournament was then readjusted to be a single elimination played completely at All American park. This placed our first game against TTA 03 at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday which the girls showed their strong bats winning 19-0. We then played Insanity on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. and again showed their ability winning 21-0. This placed us to face Dynamite for a shot at the Championship game and the girls did excellent winning 9-4. Our next game was immediately after against the EC Sliders. The defense was great on both sides and we played 6 innings of ball in 60 minutes, but the Sliders pulled out the victory 2-1. Our girls were excellent this weekend adapting to the changes of schedule and dealing with the incredible wind that showed up. They put up 71 runs and only allowed 6! Good luck to the residents of Ruidoso and hope that the fire is under control soon. Great job LadyCats and looking forward to Lubbock for the Goliath.
