Goliath 10GG - Lubbock, Texas

This was the huge tournament that we have been looking forward to since we started this year and it didn't disappoint.  This was a 4-day tournament with 8 pool games that were played on Thursday and Friday, leading to bracket play on Saturday and Sunday.  Pool play started with a bang as we finished 6-1-1 and were seated #1 out of our pool of 12 teams.  The girls played excellent with the highlight game being our tie with the EC-Sliders.  This was truly a game of great defense.  Both sides were hitting when given the opportunity, pitching was excellent and defense stood out.  The Sliders scored with the first batter of the game and we scored in our last inning of play to end the game in a tie.  In pool play, the girls allowed 12 runs, while scoring 67.  Going into bracket play, we were to face the only team that beat us in pool play and we run-ruled TTA Softball 12-0 this time around.  This was a great confidence boost going into our second bracket game against Texas Thunder.  The girls started a little sluggish trailing 4-0 entering the third.  Then, the girls used their bats like they know how and scored 10 runs to finish the game 10-4.  This lead us into our third bracket game against the El Paso Dynamite.  This was truly a slugfest.  This game went back and forth until the end when we finished the game with 9-8 score moving us into the championship game.  This game was especially memorable because of our dear friends, EC-Sliders coming to cheer us on.  These young ladies showed the epitome of sportsmanship, even though they had been eliminated, they came out to support our ladies in their quest.  Thanks cannot be expressed enough for the motivation and cheering they provided.  We awaited the loser bracket to complete itself and we found ourselves again facing Dynamite.  A few of the Sliders were still in town and showed their support yet again.  This time, our defense and pitching were excellent while our bats continued talking and we were able to claim the victory 7-2.  LadyCats went undefeated in bracket play and finished the weekend 10-1-1.  Hard work and perseverance paid off for these young ladies and the coaching staff.  We now go into The Big Event in Las Cruces, NM on Thursday which is another 10 game guarantee.  Our girls are ready and prepared for any situation that may arise.  Go Ladycats!  Great job!
